Banksy rocks. Someone make sure Kate and Colin see this. I'm not sure how often LJ is checked by the Sharpes :)

Twilight Fans are Weird

Some strange, strange woman has felted Bella's womb, complete with mutant embryo.

What.

And here are some whacky tattoos twi-hards (omg) have decided were a good idea.
Admittedly the twin tats of 'and so the lion fell in love with the lamb' and 'stupid lamb' made me giggle.

So did the one tattooed around some mad chick's collarbones. Not for the same reason though.

Is it just me...?

Has anyone else seen the somewhat creepy Allen's lollies ad to the tune of This Old Man? A giant doll girl with pigtails moves through a crowd on wheels, blowing bubbles that magically turn into snakes and jubes and whatnot that fall into the delighted crowd. I'm afraid, as a long time Doctor Who watcher, that I keep expecting her to turn evil and kill them all.

The ad is creepy anyway.

Static Electricity

So I'm really prone to static electricity shocks. In Perth's dry summer days, I pretty much get a shock every time I touch something metal - car doors, taps, handles etc. Not alot of fun. One of the advantages to living in Sydney is that Summers here are humid. Not North Queensland humid, but humid enough to stop the effect. Joy.

One of the disadvantages to living in Sydney is that it has dry winter days, so I get them now instead >.< I work with metal sinks and incubators. *sigh*

Stuff I love.

The Eurovision Song Contest.

It's camp, it's terrible, it's wonderful and it's on this weekend! It's particularly entertaining with commentary by Terry Wogan. I know I shall miss him :(

Eurovision is 'rubbish', Terry Wogan tells European broadcasters )

Stuff I've bought!

So anyway, work might be driving me crazy, but today I decided there was ME time to be had. I'm supposed to take time in lieu? I took it, dammit. Left early, went to the shops. Bought the Devil Wears Prada, Carousel, State Fair and Gypsy. *happy face*

and I found an independantly owned Ezy DVD so they still exist!! I ordered the Big Hit, because for some reason, hardly anyone seems to know what it is, and I think it's awesome. Marky Mark and Christina Applegate! :)

Movies that I've seen.

Star Trek. Gold Class. Oh yeah.

It was great! New Bones and Spock were awesome. Simon Pegg didn't come across much like the old Scotty, but I don't care! He was awesome :) Romulans got cool.
Winona Ryder was weird casting.
I'm not sure why the new Chekov got the job, he didn't look anything like Walter Koenig, and didn't have a vibe that made me not care (a la Simon Pegg). It's not that he was bad, he just was another Russian guy, not Chekov to me.

Anyways, really enjoyed the experience. Service, comfy seats, and Star Trek. Whee!!

Have been so fatigued lately. I have to nap at work often in sick bay to keep the world spinning to a controllable level. I get home and I'm so tired I want to cry. I've been cranky. And then weepy because I shouldn't be cranky and I feel so bad.

I've gone to see a doctor, and I had blood sucked out of me. Nice thing: had to have fasting blood (yuck) but was easy done because I took brekkie to work and then went upstairs to visit a collector! Handy that :)

Wolverine.

Was awesome!! :)

It's good to see there was somewhere to go in the franchise after the bomb that was X Men 3.

Homesick again

:(

Whenever I come home to Perth I remember just what a fantastic plae it is, and I always go home wanting to move back. There's an awesome lifestyle and community here I don't have over east. The beaches aren't a day time night club with so many beautiful people there's no room for actual swimming or lazing around. And long daylight hours and sunsets over the water are awesome!

Books I've read

Now, I love Anne McCaffrey as much as most people I know, but she's gone and made me cranky.
I just read one of her books, and it was, frankly, shit. I speak of the Catteni sequence, and in particular the third of the series, Freedom's Challenge.
While the first two were hardly masterpieces, I could easily gloss over most of the substandard elements of them and just enjoy the story.

But the third one was just BAD. By this point I'm well and truly over having the characters constantly referred to with both names, like we're too stupid to know who they are, even though there's no two characters with the same first name. Then there's the dodgy pacing, and the somewhat weak storyline, the shallow characterisation... And then the 'heroine' of the story ( I say that in loose terms because I have come to want to bitch-slap her and the word heroine seems remarkably inappropriate) FOR THE SECOND TIME gets herself so tanked on alcohol that she sleeps with a man of her acquaint who is not her chosen partner (and a different one both times). And now she's unintentionally pregnant for the second time. 'oopsie, I got drunk and now I'm preggers to that guy tee hee'.

Like a scab I know I shouldn't pick, I want to read the next book, just to find out if I'll truly detest this character, and the rapidly crapifying storyline.

So most of you will be aware I just had my birthday. I really had a good time ;)

There was a bit of a do on Saturday. Jaki was in town from Brisbane and we don't need much reason to gather and here we had TWO reasons! My request was games since I missed playing games. This bunch usually celebrates with booze, BBQs, talking crap and guitar hero >.<
Anyhoos, so we played Up and Down the River!! And part of a game of Phase Ten, since it is epic. ( There was still booze and BBQ ;p )

Birthday eve nothing special. Was raid night, BF likes his set up, I like mine so we don't tend to raid together much. Also early start at work for birthday. Don't mind working - just not doing night. Was actually m y rostered night and Shereen who ended up on it worked until 1:30 so yay not working mah birthday!
Anyways at like 6:10 I get woken up by Steve trying to sneak into my flat. He brought croissants! And OJ! What a nice man :)

I had my first surprise cake at work ever! It said banana on the top which is fairly fitting.

Was POURING with rain though, and Tuesday night with many shut places, so Steve and I had fish and chips (well I had fish and potato cakes and he had a burger and chips, but now I'm being pedantic), and we watched the Mummy which neither of us had seen in ages. Yay!!

good day all in all ^_^

D'oh!

This morning I locked myself INSIDE my flat.

You see, the deadlock can be locked shut. No keys, no opening. My keys were outside, and I was inside. It was a predicament. Thankfully Steve hadn't gone to work yet so he came and let me out >.

House hunting continues

So last weekend I basically stalked an agent. I went to each place she showed all day, and at the end of it, applied for 3 of the places I'd seen. A dodgy one bedroom with outside loo that had the advantages of being cheap, and incredibly close to the train station. A lovely one bedroom security unit with balcony and light. A three bedroom house. All within $80 of each other. And today I found out I got the lovely one bedroom.
I move in on the weekend of the 21st. I'm so excited :)

I'm so looking forward to not house hunting every weekend.

Annoying workmates

I don't know how much I've ranted about my co worker Shereen. In a nutshell, she gets paid more than I do by 7 grand a year or so, but is almost useless. If things break down on her shift, I have to fix them when I take over, and then catch up on the things she didn't do on her shift.

More rant? Oh yes! )

What this means, to end a brief rant, is that I am confirmed for Swancon. I have a flight, and somewhere to sleep. Now to buy membership.

HUZZAH!

Flat Hunting continues. Need more guns.

The guns could be useful for immobilising the elusive affordable residence.

They could also be useful for removing the competition.

And for exacting revenge on the real estate agents who don't come to the open house they have arranged, leaving a good dozen plus people standing around waiting getting irritated.

How I managed to do enough walking to make my feet hurt when it's as hot and humid as it is, I don't know. But I did.
